KISSIMMEE, Fla., September 18, 2015 – Kissimmee Utility Authority, in partnership with the City of Kissimmee, will kick off its free 2015-16 Movie in the Park series on Friday, October 2 on the civic lawn of Kissimmee’s Lakefront Park.
The event will feature the beloved children’s comedy film “Paddington,” shown on a giant 32-foot screen. Attendees will enjoy free popcorn, a kid’s inflatable fun zone, trivia contest and prize giveaways. The movie will feature closed captioning for the hearing impaired.
Through hands-on demonstrations, the event will also be an opportunity for customers to learn how to lower their monthly utility bills.
To celebrate the bear theme, KUA is asking each child who attends to bring their favorite stuffed animal for a group photograph at the event. For each child who participates, the utility will donate a new teddy bear in the name of the child to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies keep teddy bears and stuffed animals in their patrol cars to use in situations where children are victims of crime or a traumatic situation. In many cases, the stuffed animal comforts the child who may be scared or frightened due to the nature of the incident.
Activities begin at 6 p.m., followed by the movie at 7 p.m. Bring a lawn chair, blanket and a picnic dinner, too.
Founded in 1901, KUA (www.kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility powering 67,000 customers in Osceola County, Florida.
