KISSIMMEE, Fla., September 8, 1:00 p.m. – The Florida Reliability Coordinating Council (FRCC) today discontinued its statewide Generating Capacity Advisory after confirming that utilities throughout Florida were able to manage available fuels to ensure the reliability of the state’s electric grid.
Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) joined other Florida utilities on Aug. 30 in supporting FRCC’s initial appeal for energy conservation after Hurricane Katrina impacted natural gas production in the Gulf of Mexico.
KUA appreciates the efforts of its customers in reducing demand for electricity during the past nine days.
Founded in 1901, KUA (www.kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric and telecommunication services to 170,000 residents in five Central Florida counties.
