KISSIMMEE, Fla., September 12, 2007 – The Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) board of directors on Wednesday approved a $1.7 million contract for the construction of an overhead transmission line to accommodate the widening of Neptune Road in Kissimmee.
The contract was awarded to Moore Haven-based Glades Utility Services, Inc.
The project will consist of the construction of new transmission facilities on steel and concrete structures and the removal of existing transmission and distribution facilities. The new corresponding distribution facilities will be built underground by KUA crews.
Over the past ten years, KUA’s expansion and system improvement projects have totaled more than $85 million. These combined efforts allowed the utility to offer its customers a near perfect service reliability rating of 99.987 percent in 2006.
Founded in 1901, KUA (www.kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric and telecommunication services to 170,000 residents in five Central Florida counties.
