KISSIMMEE, Fla., May 10, 2012 – At a meeting of the Kissimmee Utility Authority board of directors held Wednesday, the board interviewed eight applicants and selected Reginald Hardee to serve a second five-year term on the utility’s governing board.

Hardee’s name will go before the Kissimmee City Commission on May 15 for confirmation. If confirmed, he will be sworn in at the board’s October meeting and serve until September 30, 2017.

The utility’s five-member board of directors sets policy direction for the utility. Specifically, the board approves annual budgets, sets rates and approves major purchases. The board also directs a general manager who is responsible for day-to-day operations of the utility.

Hardee joined the board in 2007. He has served as director, assistant secretary and secretary, and currently serves as vice chairman. Hardee is the district information system manager for Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise and brings over 18 years of strategic planning and budgeting experience to the board position. In 2011, Hardee was appointed by the American Public Power Association to a three-year term on its national Policy Makers Council.
