Utility Lassoes Five Trophies at Statewide Rodeo

KISSIMMEE, Fla., April 4, 2011 – Kissimmee Utility Authority linemen brought home high marks and five trophies from Saturday’s 11th annual Florida Lineman Competition in Ocala.

Twelve teams and 28 apprentices from municipal utilities throughout Florida gathered to recognize the profession of line work and demonstrate the safety, skill and endurance of electric linemen. The rodeo-style competition consisted of five timed events.

Trophies were awarded to KUA in the following event categories:

Journeyman Team – Chris Ketner, Steve Bray, Dave Wolfe
5th place overall

Apprentice – Brent Davis
1st place – Vertical Hurtman Rescue
2nd place – Mystery event (Horizontal Hurtman Rescue)

Apprentice – Robert Diaz
4th place overall (apprentice)
3rd place – Mystery event (Horizontal Hurtman Rescue)
