KISSIMMEE, Fla., June 15, 2007 – Kissimmee Utility Authority advises Osceola County motorists of temporary lane closures on Pleasant Hill Road, beginning Tuesday, June 19 and continuing for the next four to six weeks.
Utility contractor Southeast Power Corporation will begin construction next week on a new KUA transmission line along Pleasant Hill Road, from just south of Harbor Road north to U.S. 17-92. Crews will be working both day and night shifts, but lane closures will be scheduled only during the evening hours.
Lane closures will begin at 5 p.m., Monday-Saturday, but only in the northbound lanes. One lane will be closed from about 5 p.m. to around 2 a.m. in order to set the large transmission poles. Current plans call for the installation of two transmission poles each night until the project is complete.
In addition, there will be a short five-minute road closure (both northbound lanes closed) when the contractor unloads the pole from the trailer and sets it in the hole. This will occur twice each night.
The adjacent bike path will also be closed anytime the crews are setting a pole.
There will be police presence during all lane closures. KUA will have a representative on site during both the day and night shifts.
Founded in 1901, KUA (www.kua.com) is Florida’s sixth largest community-owned utility providing electric and telecommunication services to 170,000 residents in five Central Florida counties.
