KISSIMMEE, Fla., July 18, 2008 – Members of the Florida Municipal Power Agency this morning re-elected Jim Welsh, president and general manager of Kissimmee Utility Authority, as chairman for 2008-2009. The election was held at FMPA’s annual meeting in Fort Myers, Fla.
This is Welsh’s third consecutive term as chairman. Previously, he served four terms as treasurer, and he has held various offices in the agency for more than 20 years.
Welsh holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College and engineering degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. He holds membership in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE).
Welsh has headed the utility in Kissimmee for the past 25 years.
The FMPA members also re-elected Vince Ruano, Bushnell city manager, as vice chairman; Kevin McCarthy, utilities director for the city of Clewiston, was re-elected treasurer; and Tom Richards, director of electric and gas systems for Fort Pierce Utilities Authority, was re-elected secretary.
