Welsh Tapped to Chair Chamber Board

KISSIMMEE, Fla., August 16, 11:15 am – Jim Welsh, President & General Manager of Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA), has been appointed chairman of the board of the Kissimmee/Osceola County Chamber of Commerce for 2004.

As part of his elevation to that position, Welsh will serve as vice-chairman of finance in 2002 and vice-chairman of membership in 2003. He will officially become chairman at the annual meeting of the Chamber in January 2004.

“No one has worked harder to encourage business growth in Osceola county than Jim Welsh and KUA,” said Chamber president Mike Horner. “This honor is long overdue and we’re excited about Jim’s future contributions to the business community.”

Welsh has headed the utility since December 1982.

KUA is Florida‘s 7th largest municipally-owned utility serving 53,000 electric, water and internet customers in four Central Florida counties. KUA is celebrating its 100th year of serving the community in 2001.
