KISSIMMEE, Fla., December 6, 4:30 p.m. – Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) today announced the winners of its 12th annual calendar art contest for third, fourth and fifth grade Osceola county students. The contest is designed to encourage the conservation of electricity at home and in the workplace.
A total of 341 entries were received from 13 Osceola County elementary schools, including public, private and charter schools.
A panel of judges selected twelve entries – one for each calendar month – that will be featured in KUA’s 2006 Calendar of Energy Conservation. The printed calendars will be distributed free of charge in late December.
The winners are:
— Central Avenue Elementary – Luis Rosario, grade 5
— Cypress Elementary – Christian Adorno, grade 5
— First United Methodist School – Chris Wilcox, grade 3; Jessica Yousey, grade 4
— Kissimmee Elementary – Laura Balbuena, grade 5; Alexis Davila, grade 3; Jarynn Lowe, grade 4
— Life Academy – Christian Arroyo, grade 5
— Michigan Avenue Elementary – Stephanie Baur, grade 4
— Mill Creek Elementary – Stephanie Arnold, grade 5; Catherine Castro, grade 5; Alex Price, grade 5
Each student who submitted artwork to KUA will be honored with a letter of appreciation, a copy of the full-color calendar and a chance to win four tickets to the Disney® park of their choice. The twelve winning students will receive a $75 cash prize.
The 341 entries will be on display beginning December 19 in the lobby of KUA’s customer service center, located at 1701 W. Carroll Street in Kissimmee.
