Households traditionally use more energy during the holidays. Decorative lights, for example, can drive up energy use. The good news is with a little knowledge, customers can manage their energy use while keeping traditions in place.
To give customers a resource to help save money this holiday season, Kissimmee Utility Authority provides a web-based holiday lighting calculator to help customers estimate how much it will cost to power their holiday displays this year.
To launch the calculator, visit http://kua.com/holidays.
The lighting calculator helps customers determine the most efficient way to light their home, comparing incandescent light strings to those featuring LED bulbs. Check out the advantages of LED bulbs:
Safer – LEDs are much cooler than incandescent lights, reducing the risk of combustion, less heat in the home or burnt fingers.
Sturdier – LEDs are made with epoxy lenses, not glass, and are much more resistant to breakage.
Longer lasting – The same LED string could still be in use up to 40 holiday seasons from now.
Easy Installation – Up to 25 strings of LEDs can be connected end-to-end without overloading a wall socket. Please remember to follow all manufacturer’s requirements as some LEDs may differ depending on brand and size.
