  • Must be an active KUA account holder.
  • Eligible customers must be the property owner, or have the written permission of the property owner, to install the EVSE charger.
  • Customer has the responsibility to contract a Florida State DBPR licensed contractor. The electrical contractor must verify there is enough service panel capacity to add an EVSE charger and will need to install the electrical equipment required to power an EVSE charger. Please check with the Authority having jurisdiction, City or County, regarding electrical permit requirements.
  • Charging station installation must meet all currently adopted National Electric Code, NFPA 70 and all relevant articles (or subsequent revisions), Florida Building Code, and local codes and regulations when installing an EVSE Charger.  Note: Kissimmee Utility Authority holds the right to reject any application or request any additional information to verify the EVSE charger has been installed correctly to code.

We will ship the charger to your home at no additional cost.

Delivery

Once you have the electrical charger breaker labeled, the correct wiring, and the NEMA 6-50 EV outlet preinstalled, KUA can deliver the charger and assist with mounting and plugging it in.

Will KUA provide all of the electrical work required at my home to install this charger?

Unfortunately, no, customers will have to select their own DBPR Florida licensed electrical contractor. KUA does maintain a list of the DBPR Florida licensed electrical contractors who are a part of our participating contractor list.

Will I need to upgrade my electrical panel or main service?

In some cases, yes, depending on the age of the home and its electric service load capacity rating.  It would be best to consult a DBPR Florida State licensed electrical contractor prior to purchasing an EV charger.

What size kW and amperage is the KUA EV charger rated?

The KUA home EV charger is at 7.68kW and will operate at 32 amps. (Charger fused size is a 40 amp 2-pole breaker)

Does the charger have a warranty?

Yes, the KUA home EV charger comes standard with a full 3-year manufacturer’s warranty described in your purchase warranty order documentation. If you are experiencing an issue with your charger, please refer to the owner’s manual or contact KUA.

How long will it take the Level-2 charger to provide the range my EV needs?

Why should I purchase the KUA EV Home Charger? 

KUA has researched many types of chargers that are available on the market and has secured EV vendors to supply the KUA Home EV charger with reliability and warranty at an affordable price without sacrificing quality.

What does the KUA EV Home Charger rebate cover?

The rebate is only applicable to one home EV charger, purchased through KUA, per location at this time.  The KUA Home EV Charger rebate is instantly applied once the EV charger purchase order has been confirmed.  Note: One time EV charger rebate per location and must be KUA customer.

Can I use the KUA Home EV Charger on all different types of EV’s manufactured?

Yes, the KUA Home EV Charger comes standard with an SAE J1772, 25’ cord that works with all EV’s that accept Level-2 charging. Note: (Tesla will require the Tesla plug adapter which is typically included with the electric vehicle purchase.)

Can the charger be installed outdoors?

Yes, due to the EV charger NEMA 4 rating, it can be installed outdoors following electrical code for installing electrical equipment exposed to weather.

Can I take the KUA Home EV Charger with me if I move?

Yes, if the charger has been paid in full and the account has been satisfied.  Please note: Once the account has been closed, the customer will be fully responsible for the EV KUA Home charger.  If the charger fails during the 3-year warranty term the customer would have to ship the charger back to KUA at his or her own expense for testing.  Unless the customer’s new location is still within KUA service territory, then we would schedule a site visit to inspect the installation and test the charger.

Does KUA monitor the EV charger?

No, the KUA Home EV Charger is a non-Wi-Fi or non-networked charger type.

What if my home charger fails after the three-year warranty ends?

If your charger is experiencing any issues, and it was purchased through KUA services, please feel free to let us know so we may schedule a time to visit your location to inspect the installation and test the charger.

Can I purchase more than one KUA EV Home Charger for my location?

Yes, more than one EV home charger can be purchased.  Please note:  Must be a KUA customer and each charger will be registered on your KUA account for warranty.  The location is eligible for only one charger $200 rebate per location. 

I rent/lease a home, apartment, condominium, multifamily, etc. can I purchase a KUA EV Home Charger?

Installing an EV charger requires an electrical building permit. You would need the property owner to complete this step.

I have short-term rental property. Am I eligible for this program?

Yes you can, as long as service is in the name of the owner or owners agent.

Can I purchase the KUA Home EV charger for my commercial business? 

Unfortunately, this program is only for residential homeowner locations.  If you are interested in a commercial charging solution, we offer a Full Service Commercial EV Charger program.  Please contact customer service or visit our website to learn more about our commercial Full Service EV Charger program.

Should I use a DBPR Florida Licensed Electrical Contractor to install my EV Charger or can I do it myself? 

Yes, it is best to use DBPR Florida Licensed Electrical Contractor in most cases and all necessary permits must be obtained prior to installation unless your home is already pre wired for an EV charger.  Prior to making upgrades to your electrical service, please check with the City of Kissimmee, the Osceola County Building Department, or the City of Saint Cloud (whichever is the active authority having jurisdiction for your home address).
