KISSIMMEE — The Kissimmee City Commission on Tuesday appointed Melissa Thacker to a five-year term on the Kissimmee Utility Authority board of directors.

Thacker is a Sr. Project Manager at Balfour Beatty US, and has lived in Kissimmee for the past 30 years. Thacker graduated from University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management. She also serves on the board of directors for the City of Kissimmee’s Planning Advisory Board, The Education Foundation of Osceola County and the ACE Mentor Program of Central Florida.

Thacker will be sworn in at KUA’s October board meeting to fill the seat being vacated by Jeanne Van Meter, who will leave the board after fulfilling the maximum of two terms from 2015-2024, in addition to a partial term from 2011- 2014.
