KISSIMMEE, Fla., Dec. 7, 2018 – Retiring Kissimmee Utility Authority president and general manager Jim Welsh has been named grand marshal of Saturday’s Festival of Lights Parade in downtown Kissimmee.

Welsh has served as head of Kissimmee’s electric utility since 1982, guiding it through the most significant period of growth in its 117-year history. Welsh will retire from the utility on March 31, 2019.

Each year, the City of Kissimmee selects its parade grand marshal(s) by identifying residents of Osceola County who have displayed outstanding pride and commitment to the community through volunteerism and/or service above and beyond their normal call of duty.

Saturday’s parade, which begins at 7 p.m., will travel north on Ruby Ave, east on Broadway, south on Dakin Ave. and west on Lakeview Drive.

Welsh will lead the parade aboard a 1928 fire truck, alongside his 5-year-old grandson.
